You’ve got to see what kind of art Oscar most enjoys. Sculptures? 3-D Art? I’m sure that some of you art school grads can help me with the proper terminology…
These are papers that were originally drawn on with crayons. After the coloring he rolls, then crumples the pieces. Finally, he’ll request a piece of tape to secure the shape. He makes these everyday, at home and at school. When I pick him up at school I usually find 5 or more in his art folder ready to go home. He’s the only kid in his class that does this.
This one may cross over to more of a science experiment, but I think there are artistic intentions at work as well. Our coreopsis is exploding with blooms right now. Oscar likes to pick a few of the flowers and submerge them in water in cups or in this case a vase. I had no idea that the water would eventually be tinted with that yellow color and I think it is beautiful. It is probably about time to throw this particular creation away…it will have more colors soon, if you know what I mean. At least I can show him this picture to remember it by!

Maybe what he is making could fall into the category of performance art. The flower tinted water is brilliant–we’ll have to try that one out ourselves.
