Far Out, Man

I took Laurel to the pediatrician’s office today. Her doctor saw her tie-dye dress and said that it reminded him of the 60’s. I jokingly asked him if he was a hippie and he told me a bit more that I was expecting–something along the lines of “I was kind of a hippie although I didn’t get involved in the drug thing…too much.” Say what! My kids’ doctor did drugs? I’ve always liked this guy and trust him with our kids health care for sure, perhaps I like him a little bit more now! Too funny.
Pictures of our little counter-culture darling (and her long-haired hippie sidekick).
I also want to thank the universe for one significant portion of my day’s good fortune. When we were leaving the doctor’s office a fire alarm began ringing and the whole building was evacuated. We narrowly missed having to go through that ordeal (and perhaps missing our appointment). I never saw or smelled smoke and have a feeling that whatever the emergency was was a small one (nothing in the news), in case you’re curious.

Hmmm at least the doctor was honest! =)
