We were driving through Mission Bay earlier this week when Oscar suggested that we buy a boat so that we can go out in the water. Instead of a whole boat, we bought ferry tickets so that the kids could experience a boat ride. It was actually our kids’ first time on the water and it was an excellent family outing. We rode the ferry from the downtown boat docks, across San Diego Bay to Coronado. Most people get off to enjoy Coronado, but we just stayed on board for the return trip. Unbeknownst to us, we got the bonus excursion onto North Island Naval Station, where there were lots of military types ready to ride over to downtown. While we were cruising on the base waters we were spitting distance from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk, which our good buddy Noelle once drove. The Kitty Hawk is in SD for a short time before its decommissioning…which is probably a good thing from our point of view–it’s covered in rust! Laurel & Oscar loved this trip-check out these happy kiddos.
